Scholarship Judges represents a college or university and award various levels of scholarships.
The following information, taken from the 2003 web site, lists the colleges and universities that participated in 2003 and the scholarships that were awarded.
Allegheny College will award four Trustee Science Scholarships with a minimum amount of $9,000 per recipient. Recipients must enroll at Allegheny College following high school graduation. Recipients must also be placed within the top 25% of their class and achieve either a minimum 1150 on the SAT or a minimum ACT composite of 24
The Art Institute of Pittsburgh will award three tuition scholarships in the amount of $20,000, $10,000 and $5,000 to be used in any of the schoolÕs academic bachelor or associate degree programs of study. The recipient must be currently in grade 10, 11, or 12 and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Scholarships apply only to tuition at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and will be distributed evenly over the recipientsÕ term of enrollment.
Carlow College will award three Sister Maurice Whalen Science Scholarships, each in the amount of $6,000 per year, renewable for a total of $24,000 over four years. Recipients must have a high school cumulative GPA of 3.25, an SAT score of 1000 (or Act of 21), and enroll in Carlow College the fall semester following their high school graduation. These scholarships are renewable up to three additional years with a Carlow College cumulative GPA of 3.0 and full-time enrollment in the Day program.
Carnegie Mellon University will award two Pre-College Program Scholarships valued at $4,140. The scholarship will be utilized for the Advanced Placement Early Admission Program, which is a challenging, credit-bearing program in which students take regular Carnegie Mellon classes for full credit. The Credit can be used at Carnegie Mellon or may be transferred to other universities for advanced placement.
Chatham College will award four, $5000 Chatham College Science Achievement Scholarships. These scholarships are non-renewable and recipients for the awards must meet academic qualifications designated by the Office of Admissions.
Clarion University will offer one $1000 Foundation Leadership Scholarships to outstanding juniors who enroll at Clarion University. Recipients must present a minimum 1150 SAT, 3.5 high school grade point average and major in Math or Science
Duquesne University will award two scholarships valued at $6,500 each to outstanding high school juniors. All scholarships are renewable annually with a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Recipients of the awards must meet academic requirements designated by the Office of Admissions, and must enroll in Duquesne UniversityÕs Bayer School of Natural and Environmental Sciences the semester following their high school graduation. Students receiving these scholarships may not receive any other Duquesne academic scholarships.
In addition, Duquesne University will offer four ACHI (Advanced Credit Honors Initiative) awards. Two of these awards will be designated for courses up to three credits each and two will be designated for participation in the Duquesne University Summer Undergraduate Research Program.
La Roche College will award a limited number of scholarships valued up to $4500. The recipients must meet the academic requirements for the scholarship and admission to La Roche College.
Mercyhurst College will award four Science Fair scholarships in the amount of $5000 each. Two awards will be made to juniors and two to sophomores. All scholarships are renewable annually with a cumulative GPA of 3.0.
Penn State Altoona will award a limited number of Academic Excellence for Science and Engineering Scholarships. These scholarships will have a value of up to $5,000. To receive the scholarship, awardees must present SAT scores of 1200 or more, meet the academic requirements for admission, and enroll at Penn State Altoona. The scholarship is renewable with a cumulative minimum GPA of 3.4 and continued enrollment at Penn State Altoona.
Point Park College will offer four scholarships with a value of $2500 per year. The Department of Natural Sciences and Engineering will participate in the selection of the recipients. Each scholarship is awarded for four years of study, provided the student meets the stated renewal criteria. Recipients of the scholarship must meet the academic requirements for admission and enroll at Point Park College.
Robert Morris University will award a limited number of merit scholarships and colonial grants valued at up to $6000. All scholarships and grants are renewable annually with a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Recipients must meet all academic requirements designated by the school of Engineering, Math and Science, and the Office of Enrolling Management. The recipient must enroll in the Robert Morris University of Engineering, Math and Science the fall semester following high school graduation.
Saint Francis University will award a limited number of merit scholarships that range from $500 to full tuition. Recipients must meet academic criteria for scholarships and admission to Saint Francis University. The Institution will also award the Chemistry Undergraduate Fellowship award of $1,000 per year. Eligible students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and an SAT score of 1050. Candidates will also be required to interview with the Chemistry Department.
Seton Hill University will award four 2002 Seton Hill University Science Fair Scholar Scholarships, one senior, and three junior awards worth up to $6000 ($1500 per year for four consecutive years). Recipients must enroll at Seton Hill University in a science, math or related major the semester following high school graduation.
Thiel College will award up to four $4000 scholarships ($1000 per year for four years) to selected outstanding juniors participating in the Pittsburgh Regional Science and Engineering Fair for attendance at Thiel College. This scholarship is renewable for four years with the maintenance of a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA as a science major at Thiel College.
The University of Pittsburgh (Oakland), in recognition of their achievement, first-place winners in the Carnegie Science Fair Program in the Engineering and Senior Science Categories will be awarded merit scholarships of up to $2000. These students must meet the School of EngineeringÕs honor requirements, and must enroll in the University of PittsburghÕs School of Engineering in the fall term following their high school graduation. All scholarships are renewable for students who maintain a grade point average of at least 3.0.
The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg will award two University Scholarships up to $4,000 to outstanding seniors. To receive the scholarship, students must enroll full-time at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, present a minimum SAT of 1100 and be ranked in the top 30% of their high school senior class. The University Scholarships are renewable each year so long as the student maintains a minimum 3.25 GPA.
The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown will award two Engineering and Science Fair scholarships, each in the amount of $2000 per year for up to four years. Recipients must meet overall admission requirements, score a minimum of 1100 on the SAT, and must enroll at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown in the fall term following their high school graduation. All scholarships are renewable for up to four years to students who maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Westminster College will award eight $8000 science fair scholarships; each in the amount of $2000 per year for up to four years providing eligible requirements is maintained. Recipients must meet admission requirements and enroll at Westminster following high school graduation.
