Division Awards
Senior Division (Grades 9 - 12)
Each student researcher entering an exhibit may apply for participation
in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). Up to
four student researchers will be chosen from the applicants and will be
given a trip to compete in the ISEF, held May 9-15, 2004 in
Portland, OR.
Intermediate Division (Grades 7 - 8)
Category Award Winners are nominated to advance to the Discovery Young
Scientists (DYSC) competition.
Junior Division (Grade 6)
Category Award Winners are nominated to advance to the Discovery Young
Scientists (DYSC) competition.

Teacher and School Awards:
Teachers with the most winning entries receive a Science and Technology Desk Reference from the Science and Technology Department of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh.
Senior and Intermediate Division Schools with the most winning entries receive a trophy and a Science and Technology Desk Reference from the Science and Technology Department of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. Junior Division Schools with the most winning entries receive a trophy and a six-volume set of science encyclopedias from Gale Research, Inc.
Sponsor Awards
$50 each from the sponsoring organization; sponsors use their own criteria to select projects. Some look for projects from their special field of interest.
Affiliated Sponsor Awards
These are awarded at PRSEF because of its affiliation with ISEF. These sponsors may include Intel, Kodak, US Army, Navy and Marines.
Scholarships
Awards, which include full/half/partial tuition scholarships, pre-college program scholarships, are determined and selected by the awarding colleges and universities.
Perseverance Awards
Honorary Scientist
Seniors or Juniors with five or more years of active participation.
Associate Scientist
Seniors or Juniors with three or four years of active participation.
Junior Scientist
Eighth-grade students with three years of active participation.
Merit Awards
The Junior and Intermediate Division Category Judges select the students that exhibit
excellence in Creativity, Presentation, or Scientific Method. Students
will receive a certificate of excellence that signifies his or her
outstanding performance in one of these areas.
