Help arrange materials and signs and install decorations for the Festival.
Exhibitor Set-Up
Greet exhibitors and assist them in setting up their exhibit booths.
Floater
This volunteer will float among the exhibitors. The primary responsibility will be to assist the exhibitors. This will require checking with each exhibitor periodically and seeing to their needs (providing supplies, coffee, etc.). This volunteer will need to be able to move around and have site knowledge, which will be provided on an information sheet. If necessary they may be assigned to other jobs, such as handing out game sheets.
Runner
This volunteer will be stationed at the Information Booth or with the Festival coordinator or volunteer director. The primary responsibility will be to assist in keeping things running smoothly. This volunteer will need to be able to move around and have site knowledge, which will be provided on an information sheet. If necessary they may be assigned temporarily to other jobs, such as handing out game sheets.
Information Booth
This volunteer will be seated at the Information Booth. The primary responsibility will be to greet visitors, answer questions and hand out information about the SciTech Festival. This volunteer will need festival, site, and area knowledge, which will be provided at the booth. This volunteer will also be in charge of games.
Pittsburgh Challenge Booth
This volunteer will man a booth in the lobby. They will need to explain the Pittsburgh Challenge process and hand out entry forms and stamp passports.
Program Assistant
New Frontier Series—Revolving Career Cameos—Open Mike Panel Discussion
This volunteer will attend programs. The primary responsibility will be to introduce the program presenter and say a few words about the SciTech Festival. They will be required to hand out and collect surveys. They will also need to check Q&A sheets and stamp passports.
Note: The volunteer assisting the open mike discussions will have more hands-on involvement and need to be comfortable with audience control.
Passport Checker
This volunteer will work with the exhibitors and the programs. They distribute, collect and correct Q&A sheets and stamp students' passports.
Passport Manager
This person will coordinate the passport checkers. They will train the passport checkers and direct them to the various stations during the day where they are most needed.
Passport Greeter
This volunteer will greet the students as they get off the bus, hand out passports and explain the passport process. As the students leave, the volunteer will collect the passports, give gifts to the teachers and remind them about Act 48 credits.
