Background

The SciTech Festival is a grassroots organization that was initiated in 1999 with the support of Carnegie Science Center and more than 100 academic institutions, businesses, corporations, and professional societies. The SciTech Festival is under the 501c3 of Carnegie Science Center. However, it operates independently to secure the funds needed for the operations and programs. An executive committee comprised of corporations and non-profit leaders guides the SciTech Festival. The concept was developed based on the knowledge gained through the operations and programs of the Pittsburgh Regional Science and Engineering Fair. This SciTech Festival is the only one of its kind in the United States. It is a major initiative for Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio, and Northern West Virginia designed to highlight the accomplishments of the region in engineering, medicine, science, and technology as well, its economy and citizens. It is a celebration that is interactive, informative, and entertaining for adults, families, schools and the science and technology community.

Vision

The SciTech Festival aspires to transform the image of Pittsburgh to reflect a prestigious center of science and technology.

Mission

The SciTech Festival is a fun-filled community celebration of discovery and innovation that will energize regional science and technology development.
